Muzi Mthabela was born on 2 April 1977 in the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Growing up, he became interested in being a Catholic priest. Eventually, he found love in the show business that set aside his priestly dreams.

He grew up with his siblings under the care of a single mother. Muzi’s father left them with their mother and did not return. He later met with his father at the age of 12 and he taught him a lot. At a young age, he battled alcohol addiction, which he developed in Clermont. After completing his academics in 1999, the talented actor moved to Johannesburg.


He studied postproduction and editing at the prestigious University of KwaZulu-Natal.
