He is a familiar face on screen for playing the role of Derek Nyathi in Isidingo for 3 years (1998-2001). Hlomla landed the title role (Jacob) in the Drama broadcast on SABC2 Jacob’s Cross. He started playing the role in the premiere of the series.

He played the starring role of Minister of the Environment Jet Hlatswayo in End Game, an SABC1 political thriller mystery drama serial. He also played major roles in other television serials like Tsha Tsha, Interrogation Room, and Gaz’lam.

In 2001, Hlomla Dandala got married to Candy Litchfield. After almost nine years together as husband and wife, the couple ended their union in divorce in 2009. Hlomla married again to Brendah but their marriage did not get the “till death do us part” ending either.
