This is the story of a young, intelligent woman looking for a dream job in the cutthroat fashion industry. The problem is that she doesn’t meet the unrealistic beauty standards set by that same industry. The series is an adaptation of the American original called Ugly Betty.

Betty is awkward and feels insecure. Things get more awkward when she meets the flamboyant and dangerously handsome Dingaani Jiyane, who is Nubia’s heir and is groomed to be the MD of the company by his mother, Linda, played by Tsholofeli Mashishi. Betty becomes highly attracted to him and stays at Nubia for him.
Dingaani is impulsive and well kind of a Mama’s boy.

Betty had to face the opposing forces of Lakhe, played by Ayanda Bandla, who is trying to overthrow Dingaan because she believes she is more suitable to run Nubia. She enlists the help of TBang Moeketsi, played by Brighton Moeketsi; together, they make life difficult for Betty.

uBettina Wethu Season 2 is making its way back to your screens in August

Episode 1 of uBettina Wethu premiered on SABC1 on the 5th of April 2021 to rave reviews. Season 1 lasted for 51 episodes.

The drama was hit by severe controversy before production for the second season, a controversy that saw main characters bowing out of the show, including Bettina herself.

Zweli Dube (Dingaan), Farieda Metsileng (Bettina) and Lesego Thlabi(Zaza) have all been replaced by new characters for season 2.

Dingaan will now be played by Lunga Shabalala, Kamogelo Molathloe takes on Bettina and Itumeleng Bokaba joins the cast as Zaza. Hungani Ndlovu will join the cast as Betty’s love interest, Duma.

SABC 1 has teased the second season, and just for your information, the channel has partnered up with VIU, and the streaming service has been running the show since June the 15th, which is four months before the SABC1 premier.

The first season of the show is currently re-running on SABC 2.

SABC1 has announced that the first episode of UBettina Wethu season 2 will air on August 15th.
