Keamogetswe Leburu was born on 10 February 1995 in Kagiso township, west of Johannesburg. Her mother passed away in 2004 when she was nine years old, and her father also died the following year in 2005. As a result of the death of both of her parents, Kea was then raised by her grandparents. Keamogetwe Leburu is now independent and still resides in Johannesburg.

Kea Leburu attended Bosele Primary School, where she discovered her interest in and love for netball. Afterwards, she proceeded to Mosupatsela High School, where she finished her metric. Kea had always been keen to be a professional actor and dancer; therefore, she went to study at the Market Theatre Laboratory.
When did Keamogetswe Leburu get her breakthrough?
Keamogetwe gave her first shot at showbiz in 2006 when she auditioned for the kid’s show, YOTV. She was unsuccessful and disappointed, which made her quit auditioning. However, towards the end of 2013, she was discovered by Peter Se-Puma, who mentored and subsequently, she landed a cameo role on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.
This marked her screen acting debut, but it is reasonable to state that 2014 was a breakout year as she landed numerous high-profile dancing gigs for Mafikizolo at Macufe Mangaung African Cultural Festival and the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). Moreover, she also participated in the Metro FM Awards, the PSL Awards, an Audi car launch, and so performing a theatre play called Four Husbands for Malindi.
