And crime is a direct reflection of the many ills in society that sometimes force or put people in positions where they feel like they do not have any other option but to partake in crime, but that does not justify criminals and the crimes that they commit. One of the most common crimes in society is stealing. Everyone has had something in their life stolen, even if it might not have been something big. Stealing is seen as something that is wrong because taking without being given or asking for permission is a crime.
And once an individual is caught, they are punished. There are many people in the country who have become victims of this sort of crime, and unfortunately for some of them, their cases were never solved. But those people who do get caught stealing, especially by community members, end up being punished badly, like this man who was caught trying to steal a sheep.
Livestock theft has been happening quite a bit lately in South Africa, with those who own livestock dealing with the issue of their animals disappearing and being stolen. A man who wanted to take a sheep for himself without permission was punished by being told he had to eat it, and he did not enjoy it while it was cooked. The man in the video was told to eat it raw, and he can be seen chewing some of the pieces members of the community were cutting for him from the sheep he was trying to steal, while being told he must eat it since he was hungry and wanted to take it for himself.
