He was born Bongani Mohosana on 9 June 1987 into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Mohosana. The renowned artist was born in a public hospital located in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a bid to gain more experience and exposure, Murdah Bongz became a singer in the choir in his church. He did learn to play many instruments and developed his skills as a music composer and vocalist.
His music journey became even smoother after he connected with the popular singer Thabo Mabogwane. Similarly, many address Thabo by his stage name Smol. They became friends and created the group Black Motion in 2009. Their first album was dropped in 2011 and was titled Talking To The Drums.
It housed several hit tracks which made waves in the entertainment industry. They gained prominence at both the local and international levels for the album. The album Fortune Teller followed 3 years later and further trusted their fame to the world. It earned them recognition at the 2016 South African Award – Best Dance Award.
The music duo got a feature in the single Stay With Me (2020) by popular female singer Simmy. In November that year, Mudrah Bongz and his music partner released another single titled The Healers. Their single, Alone Together, was recognized with a nomination for the 2021 MAMA Awards in 2020.
