Mothusi Magano (born 26 March 1979 in Phokeng) is a South African actor. He gained popularity for his acting role in several popular serials. He is popular with lovers of series including ScandalIntersextions, and Tsotsi. Many know the actor for being cast in The Lab. He played the role of Charles “Mingus” Khathi in the SABC3 drama series for 3 years (2006-2009).

The popular face on television was born on 26 March 1979. His place of birth is in Phokeng, a village on the outskirts of Rustenburg.

At a young age, 5 years, he relocated to Mafikeng with his family. He had his debut performance at the Mmabana Cultural center in a pantomime – A Dragon For Dinner

Following a request from a friend in 2003 for him to play the role of Harry Lime in his production of The Third Man, Magano asked agent Moonyeenn Lee to watch the production. After two days, he was signed to her agency and he filmed his first film through her. He has released several films including Gums and Noses, Hotel Rwanda, and Tsotsi. The film, Tsotsi, received the Best Foreign Film at the Oscar Awards.

He also appeared in many theatre productions like The Third Man, Stones in His Pockets, Venus, Four, and Lysistrata. Other credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Bread and Butter, and Maid in the New South Africa. He has also appeared in American Buffalo, The Coloured Museum, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, and Hamlet.

Magano was cast in the serial Zero Tolerance. He appeared in season 2 of the SABC2 police procedural series in 2004. Other television serial credits include Home Affairs, Sorted, Muvhango, and Izoso Connexion. In 2006, he was cast in The Lab where he played his first major TV role. He appeared on the show playing a starring role for three seasons. In the ITV drama serial Wild at Heart, he appeared in season 5.

 

In 2011, he landed a guest-starring role in Intersexions, an SABC1 drama series. In the following year, 2012, played another guest-starring role in 90 Plein Street, an SABC2 drama series. Another starring role followed in 2013 in Tempy Pushas, an SABC1 drama serial. In November, he landed another acting role in Scandal! In the e.tv soap opera, he played the role of a mysterious assassin The Dustbin Man. In 2019, he joined the cast member of Skeem Saam playing Tumishang, an SABC1 soap opera.
