Bongani Bingwa was born in 1974 in Eastern Cape, South Africa. At age 12, he moved to Gauteng. He had always had a thing for the radio when he discovered that people wanted to make sense of the world.
While he grew up, he continued to listen to the radio which claimed the larger share of his source of news and entertainment. Most of the time, he would listen to Radio Transkei. He spent most of his childhood days in the Eastern Cape.

He played the role of Clement Khanyile in Isindigo. Other television credits include Sesame Street, Investigate Your Universe, and Jozi Streets. He also was cast in seasons one, two, and three of Zero Tolerance as Zach Zongwane.
