South Africa was dispensed a heavy blow this past Saturday, when it was announced that two of our talented actors have passed away. Shortly after the nation got to hear about Menzi Ngubane’s passing, we also learnt that Noxolo Maqashalala was no more. For many years, she has kept South Africans entertained as she showed her huge talent in the TV and film industry. Although we have lost Maqashalala, there is a lot that we can learn as well as celebrate from the life she lived.

- Noxolo Maqashalala was born in 1977, and her death was announced on the 12th of March 2021 aged 44.
- According to reports, Maqashalala’s body was found at her home in Johannesburg on Friday.
- The forensic workers revealed that they suspected she had been dead for almost a week.
- The talented actress will be remembered for her character Viwe in the first three seasons of SABC1’s youth drama series Tsha Tsha between 2003 and 2005.
- Noxee, as she was lovingly called, starred as Mandisa in the SABC1 drama series Intersexions.
- In 2014 she replaced Charmaine Mtinta in the role of Pearl for the second season of the SABC2 sitcom Gauteng Maboneng.
- Maqashalala also had roles in SABC1’s Generations, e.tv’s Rhythm City, Mzansi Magic’s Easy Money, Mzansi Love and The Kingdom – uKhakhayi.
- Expanding her portfolio in the industry, she starred in Diamond City in which she also served as one of the executive producers.
- Maqashalala also starred in a number of feature films. She acted in Hotel Rwanda(2004) – a film based on the Rwandan genocide.
- She was featured in one episode of the 1996 series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, and also played Wendy in the 2009 Irish film, Bitterness.
